A bit Folked up, a little Funked up, with a hint of Indie and a touch of the Blues, Underleaf is an exhilarating, genre-defying, harmony-laden Michigan-made Rock band from the shady knolls of Emmet County. Cultivated with care underneath the canopy of trees that forest Northwest Michigan, Underleaf beckons the listener like a cool, shady tree on the hottest of days and a steady, crackling bonfire on the chilliest of nights.

Taking root in 2020, featuring original music written predominantly by Jeff & Rob, all four members are skilled at songcraft and arrangement, making for a varied, captivating live music experience. Jeff, whose songwriting is most often quick-paced and laced with inspiration, draws from varying musical styles to deliver each song's message, often one of hope and a reminder of what humankind can achieve collaboratively. Rob, whose songwriting is lush, pensive and steep with Blues, Southern Rock and Americana influences, is adamant about sharing his artistic gifts to inspire positive change for both humanity and the planet. Behind the storytellers up front are Rick on drums, who started his musical career as a keyboardist, and Matt on bass, who started his musical career as a drummer, having together developed a comfortable, in-the-pocket heartbeat rhythmically, while bringing a melodic musicality to each of their instruments. The chemistry within Underleaf and the welcoming, relaxed energy radiating from the stage are undeniably tangible.

Given the decades of combined musical experience, behind Underleaf are a long list of prior and current projects, some of the more prominent being Faces On Mars, One Ton Trolley, The Atwood Green Band, and The Moon Howlers.

Ahead for Underleaf, additional festivals and new venues with an eye on recording an EP/LP soon. We're having a blast and intent on doing this for as long as we can.
